Biography

Dhruv Patel joined NCICS in December 2023, where he began contributing to the development of a global land-based gridded climate dataset using advanced machine learning techniques. His work focuses on applying innovative machine learning models to create high-resolution climate datasets that enhance climate monitoring and impact assessment, especially in data-sparse regions. Starting as an intern, Dhruv transitioned to a Research and Development Associate in mid-2024, and in January 2025, he began serving as a Climate Data Analyst specializing in machine learning applications.

Dhruv holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science with a specialization in Data Science from North Carolina State University (2024) and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from the Institute of Advanced Research, India. He brings experience in machine learning, large-scale data processing, and applied research, with technical expertise in Python, SQL, PyTorch, and AWS. His focus areas include machine learning, scalable pipeline development, data engineering, and statistical analysis for real-world problem solving.

Before joining NCICS, Dhruv gained diverse experience through internships in the US and India, contributing to projects in agriculture, and computer vision, involving data analysis, system optimization, and machine learning applications. Beyond his technical work, he is passionate about continuous learning, exploring new technologies, outdoor activities such as hiking, and playing pool.
