As Hurricane Dorian was headed towards the Florida coast last week, Florida State and Boise State decided to move their season-opening football game from Jacksonville to Tallahassee to keep it out of the storm’s path. This is the second year in a row that a major hurricane has disrupted early-season ACC football, so the hosts of the ACC Today show on SiriusXM radio’s ACC Channel once again invited NCICS’s Carl Schreck to provide his perspective as an expert on tropical cyclones.
Topics of the discussion include how a warming climate may be influencing hurricane behavior, the hurricane that inspired Carl to make a career out of understanding these storms, and why it made sense for FSU and Boise State to err on the side of caution.
Thanks to Tony Scarangella and SiriusXM for providing the audio recording.
