Steven Marcus

Steven Marcus joined NCICS in 2019 as an information technology support specialist, following several years as a government contractor working for NCEI in a system administrator position. Mr. Marcus focuses primarily on networking, monitoring, system administration, and user support.

He began his career as a computer-aided design draftsman for a panelized housing manufacturer in Asheville after finishing an associate’s degree in manufacturing. After completing a bachelor's degree in computer science at the University of North Carolina Asheville, Mr. Marcus taught system administration and information security classes at Asheville/Buncombe Technical Community College for fourteen years.

During his time at AB Tech, Mr. Marcus served as Co-PI of an NSF grant, “Skilled Students Get Jobs: Recruiting Women and Engaging ALL Students,” and completed a master’s degree in information security from East Carolina University.
