The City of Asheville, largest city in Western North Carolina, is located in the heart of the breath-taking Blue Ridge Mountains and is known for its natural beauty. Asheville is known for abundant natural beauty, round-the-year outdoor activities, tremendous history, and a destination for arts and music.
Home to NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information and the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites, Asheville is increasingly getting national attention as the center for environmental data archives, visualization, climate and meteorological data, and, climate services.
The city is known as an art colony, with its mix of Art Deco, Beaux Arts and Neoclassical styles. Asheville has many art galleries, distinctive restaurants featuring “farm to table” style, and plenty to do outdoors.
