2016 American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting

CICS-NC at the 2016 American Meteorological Society Annual Meeting

The American Meteorological Society’s 2016 annual meeting takes place January 9–14 in New Orleans, Louisiana, and scientists and staff from the Cooperative Institute for Climate and Satellites-North Carolina (CICS-NC) will be contributing to a variety of presentations, posters, and panel discussions. The Institute is also co-hosting a booth at the exhibit hall and collaborating with NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) on an energy sector resilience workshop.

Asheville/CICS-NC Booth and Reception

CICS-NC will be sharing a booth in the exhibit hall with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville & Buncombe County. Stop by booth number 430 to learn more about CICS-NC and about Asheville’s expanding array of climate- and weather-related public, private, and academic activities and opportunities. Also, on Wednesday from 4:00–5:30 PM, there will be a special Asheville reception at the booth, featuring chocolate truffles from Asheville’s famous French Broad Chocolate Lounge.

Energy Sector Resilience

We are collaborating with NCEI to host a workshop exploring how environmental information can be used to build greater resilience in the energy sector. The workshop will be hold at the New Orleans Downtown Marriott on Thursday, January 14, 2016, in conjunction with the final day of the 2016 meeting. There is also an option to attend via webcast. More details, including a detailed agenda and a link to register, are available on the CICS-NC website: https://www.cicsnc.org/events/energy-sector-resilience
