Journalists covering the environment, science, data analytics, and related fields are invited to attend “Measure Locally, Respond Globally,” a two-day conference taking place on August 15-16, 2016, in Asheville, North Carolina.

The conference, organized by the Science Communicators of North Carolina, will highlight the data, expertise, and resources available to journalists seeking to understand and report on the challenges of climate change. The event will be interactive in nature, with opportunities to engage directly with some of the world’s leading experts in climate science and climate data.

The schedule includes a visit to the headquarters of NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI), where reporters can learn about NCEI’s vast data holdings and its array of climate analysis tools and reports. Attendees will also learn about the new business activities emerging in Asheville and around the country as organizations and individuals work to meet emerging challenges and opportunities.
